Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, was founded in the year 1996. This medical college was started by Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, with the mission and desire to be the best college, hospital, and research center in Maharashtra and across the country. Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College is a component of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, which is accredited with 3.64 CGPA on four point scale at ‘A++’ Grade by NAAC. This institute initially commenced with the intake of 100 students for the MBBS course. The main objective of the college is to impart quality education and training so that there is all-over development of the student. Thus, this will not only facilitate students with all-around success in their profession but also assist them to recognize and prioritize health needs to serve humanity and needy people of society.

The college has a huge central library covering an area of 5000 sq. meters, with sufficient room capacity for students and staff. The huge reading halls have room for more than 750 members. The college’s library has more than 35,000 books, along with, various journals and periodicals. It also comprises many National and International Journals necessary for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs and for the faculty. Except for the central library of the college, each department has its own library facility. The central library of the campus is open from 7 am - 12 am for students who want to access the facility according to their time and convenience. For refreshments, students and faculty can also visit the Cafeteria. The central library is also equipped with a Wi-Fi internet facility for staff and students. The Training and Placement Cell, under the guidance of Dean, Dr. J.S. Bhawalkar holds programs like TOEFL, IELTS, and GRE cracking methods and provides training for students. Apart from this, in association with the Alumni division, the training and placement cell executes online meetings and sessions with past alumni who have cleared various international exams.
